Curious to learn more about our gardening practices? The vegetables we grow here at Colonial are used at Colonial Kitchen, sold in the Market and at Lee’s Summit Farmers Market & apart of our seasonal farm shares – we believe that soil is life and homegrown is best!
Our recurring tours include:
Walk through the garden beds to discuss seasonal varieties, dense planting techniques, and four season growing (when applicable)
Walk through the production house “Bertha” to see and discuss aquaponics, extending the season, pest control, microclimates, and the ecosystem within the greenhouse
Walk through the herbs & vegetables growing outside in PlantRight bags – learn about this system & why we grow produce in these bags
Walk by the compost pile & through the wash/pack area to learn about composting, recycling, and packing processes
