Description

She'll be reading and talking about her great children's books, The Oldest Student: How Mary Walker Learned to Read, and Hammering for Freedom (the true story of William "Bill" Lewis, who earned his freedom through blacksmithing). She is also the author of the adult book African Americans of Chattanooga: A History of Unsung Heroes, and will be available after storytime to discuss it. PLUS, thanks to a grant from the Nora Roberts Foundation, we will have a few copies of The Oldest Student to give away as door prizes! And free lunch will be provided for children 18 and under, courtesy of the J.A. Henry YMCA Mobile Fit program TICKETS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT AND TICKETS MUST BE TAKEN BY 9 AM THE DAY OF THE EVENT. WALK-INS WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED. Please take ONE ticket for each child attending storytime (grown-ups, you still count but don't need a ticket:). This allows us to prepare enough craft materials, so no one gets left out.
