Synth/Keys Player Wanted for Touring Video Game Experience
Meets
Los Angeles CA
Description
We're Extra Lives, an established pro musician side project that performs classic video game themes live. We're an LA-based foursome and have a sizable following around the world thanks to our weekly YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/extralivesmusic We recently launched an immersive show experience that was quite successful, so now we'll be bringing it on the road to conventions, colleges and universities. We have more gigs than available dates with our current synth player, so we're seeking to add another great, reliable player to our family, both short- and long-term. If you're fond of nostalgic video game music and a skilled musician, this is one of the raddest projects you'll ever be part of. The time commitment is relatively low, the musical standards are high, and the things we make are innovative and cool. The first out-of-town gigs we want you for in late August will pay you $150 a pop (plus travel, accommodations and guest passes at conventions), and our school gigs will pay significantly higher once those are set up. Ideally, here's you: -You're SoCal-based -You play synthesizer (with your own gear)... or are magically able to approximate those same musical roles, sounds and functions -You've got skill, creativity, confidence and versatility on your instrument; these songs are sometimes fast and challenging and include leads, duets, arpeggios, pads, etc., occasionally with multiple lines/patches happening simultaneously! Classic video game music also spans many different genres and styles. -You know how to transcribe and prepare precise parts totally on your own from recordings: this includes choosing good sounds/patches for each song. (We pride ourselves on performing these pieces in their original arrangements, albeit arranged for our instrumentation.) -You're available for out-of-town gigs the last two weekends in August (Aug. 19-21 and 26-28; the specific days/times each of those weekends are still being sorted) -You respond to all communication promptly and clearly. -You can play to click and know how to 'bake' volume levels into synth patches so our shows sound good even without front-of-house mixing. -You're interested in shows, tours, and being part of an adventure that will touch fans' hearts. TO APPLY: email us your info, link(s) where we can see/hear your playing (emphasize clips relevant to what we do), and anything else you want us to know about you via the 'reply' feature here on CL. Make sure to address the above qualifications, including whether you're available for the specific dates mentioned. (And if you have any other skills we ought to know about--i.e. graphic design, tour managing, lighting design, Ableton Live, programming or really anything at all that could be useful--let us know that as well.) We'll follow up to schedule an audition with applicants who are a good fit. To the next level! Extra Lives
