Press release from the City of Mentor: December 28, 2020 The Mentor Senior Center is currently closed due to the pandemic and will not open prior to 2021. In an effort to keep our most vulnerable population safe, the Senior Center will remain closed until there is significant decline in positive tests results and the Lake County General Health District makes recommendations to reopen. However, virtual program options and curbside food options are available to keep our Seniors healthy and active. Please note the registration instructions and deadlines listed with each program. VIRTUAL FITNESS PROGRAMS SilverSneakers® BOOM MUSCLE Online Muscle-conditioning blocks and activity specific intervals to improve cardiovascular health and functional skill. CURBSIDE PROGRAMS Curbside Produce Distribution In conjunction with the Cleveland Food Bank the Mentor Senior Center will offer a Curbside Produce Distribution for limited income seniors on Monday, January 25th and Monday February 22nd from 10 – 11 am at the 8484 Munson Road entrance. No reservations are needed, but please bring a drivers license, as all participants will be registered on site. Participants must certify annual gross household income is at or below $28,727 for a household of 1 and $38,893 for a household of 2. Income is self-declared, verification is not required. First come, first served. No advance registration needed; bring drivers license for onsite registration. Made from Scratch, Curbside Meals Made from scratch meals are available for curbside pickup Monday – Friday. Lunch reservations are $4.50 per meal and can be made online or by phone at 440-974-5725 and paid for with a credit card, beginning at 8 am Thursday for the following week. Meals will be available from 11:30 am – 12:00 pm at 8484 Munson Road entrance. OTHER PROGRAMS AARP Tax preparation AARP Foundation TaxAide organization plans to provide tax preparation services in Lake County in 2021. As with many other aspects of life in the time of COVID, operations, including how and where to request appointments, will be different. Information regarding appointment requests will be available by mid-January. When we receive specific information from AARP, it will be posted on our website at mentorseniorcenter.com and an email blast will be sent to 2020 Mentor Senior Center members. Membership Renewal Renewal of memberships for 2021 will begin once we have a definitive date for reopening.
