WORCESTER, MA — Try extra hard to avoid Kelley Square today. Traffic was backed up near the notorious intersection on Thursday due to construction work taking place on the square. Construction crews were tearing down the former Table Talk Pies factory along Green Street, causing long backups. "Traffic is accumulating in the area of Kelley Square due to demolition work being done today. The city strongly urges drivers to seek alternative routes to avoid the area this afternoon," Worcester said in a tweet near 2 p.m. Thursday. To make matters worse, the Worcester Red Sox have a game tonight against the Charlotte Knights — although the first pitch isn't until 6:45 p.m., most likely after construction crews wrap up for the day. The former pie factory will be turned into the Table Talk Lofts, an 83-unit building adjacent to Polar Park.
