WOBURN, MA — Four local nonprofits received grants from the Cummings Foundation ranging from $100,000 to $300,000 to support their work in the Woburn community.
The Cummings Foundation awards $25 million in grant money annually, focusing on local organizations that serve Suffolk, Middlesex and Essex Counties. This year, 100 nonprofits were awarded $100,000 each, and 40 will receive between $200,000 and $500,000 each.
Four Woburn-based nonprofits received Cummings Grants this year:
The Boy Scouts Spirit of Adventure Council: $250,000 will support the group's goal of increasing accessibility to the scouting program, especially to those in at-risk communities.The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Woburn: $100,000 will help the group serve the needs of their low-income clients as they work toward self-sufficiency.The Woburn Historical Society: $300,000 will be used to expand the group's educational programming and fund an extra day of work for their administrative assistant.The Woburn Police Department: $100,000 will fund a drone program and a Mobile Command Center to increase the response time of emergency services to the Woburn community.
