CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Food Bank has already assisted more than 400,000 local residents who are struggling to keep food on the table as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues. On Wednesday, the regional food-gathering organization will again assist in that effort with a drive-thru food distribution event. The food bank will handing out food from 1-4 p.m. at the Cleveland Municipal Lot, which is located at 1503 S. Marginal Road. The latest food distribution event comes a week after local volunteers assisted more than 3,400 people who arrived at the site seeking assistance. Food Bank officials said they will distribute a combination of fresh produce and non-perishable food to families that attend Wednesday's event. Those who plan to attend must pre-register at www.WeFeedCLE.org and the event will not allow for walk-up clients, officials said. Registrants will be provided with a number which will then be used for registration purposes at the event and to minimize contact during the three hours that food will be distributed. Anyone requiring help registering for the event may call the Food Bank at (216) 738-2067. Those coming for food will not be permitted to leave their vehicle for any reason and those receiving food must be in a vehicle and no exceptions will be made. Food will only be placed in the trunk of a vehicle and for safety concerns, trunks must be empty in order for a recipient to receive food. Members of the Cleveland Police Department and Ohio National Guard will be assisting with the distribution of food and with traffic control due to the large turnout that is once again expected. Directions to the Municipal Lot are as follows: From the east (on Rt#2 or I 90 westbound) follow Rt#2 use the S. Marginal Exit #106 to get to the Municipal LotFrom the south I-71 and I-90 east travel to East 55th exit 175, where they will make a right and another immediate right onto the S. MarginalAll other traffic should start at E.55 and S. Marginal and travel west on the S.
