Gallery Sitters Wanted

Located at our gallery in the Westfield South Shore Mall, sitters will greet and inform guests about current exhibitions, programs, classes and events. Sitters will aid staff in gallery upkeep, event setup, and will learn how an art gallery operates. Volunteers can earn a free art class with enough hours! Volunteers may be asked to lift heavy objects (approx. 30lbs) during setup and breakdown of events. Events include opening receptions, pop up art events (fairs/vending/tabling events, etc.) free concerts, and other events. Requirements: • Must have an interest in the arts (music, visual art, theatre) • Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner • Must be dependable and punctual • Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public • Be self-directed, willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented • Respect and maintain confidentiality of Islip Arts Council volunteers, partners, and donors • Computer skills are desired, but not necessary Contact to schedule an appointment for an interview.
