Eyes Ears Nose and Paws (EENP) is looking for Young Puppy Trainers (YPTs)!!
Who we are: EENP is a Chapel Hill based nonprofit that trains and places assistance dogs to work with individuals with disabilities. We specialize in medical alert and mobility assistance.
What is Young Puppy Training: This is a 4-6 month commitment where you will help a puppy prepare for their future career as a service dog. You will learn the basics of puppy raising and training while providing a safe home for an EENP pup to grow and play. Once the puppy is 6-8 months of age, they will enter our ABEL (At Both Ends of the Leash) prison program for their advanced training.
Is YPTing right for you: Puppies come to our office 3 times a week for training, and cannot be left alone for very long at first, so this volunteer opportunity is best for people who either have flexible schedules, work from home, or have the ability to bring a pup to work with them (but please note: these dogs do not have vests and can only go where pet dogs are allowed). Since the puppies are frequently expected in our office for vet visits and training, it is also easiest to have YPTs located in the Chapel Hill area, or willing to make frequent trips to Chapel Hill.
