Culver City Crossroads December 28, 2020 The artwork of Culver City High School graduate Isaiah Levels has been selected to hang in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for the next year. Isaiah an AVPA art student, who graduated in June, submitted his art earlier this year for the 2020 Karen Bass Congressional Art Competition and earned first place for his work entitled The Symbol of America: Freedom of Choice. Since 1982, each spring the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors a nationwide high school arts contest designed to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of artists in our nation. To date, more than 650,000 high school students have been acknowledged and supported for their talents. Isaiah is currently studying architecture at Otis College of Art and Design and said his proudest accomplishment in high school was when, "my drawing was picked to be one of the murals by the bike path on Sepulveda." He was involved in AVPA, Ryman Arts and Workability during his time at CCHS. He said he will always remember, "Culver City High School because it represents the area that I grew up all my life, and it's fitting that I get to graduate from the district I was meant to be in."
