Immigrant from Bogotá, Colombia. class: We will focus on exploring how two bodies become one with the same center of gravity. Going to the ground, going back up from the ground while always the center of gravity staying connected. We will feel and listen to the ground through the other person's feet. Richard Inkyu Kim (musician/dancer/improviser) mostly improvises. As a violist, he has performed free improvisation with percussionist Caitlin Cawley in Cawley/Kim Duo; with the Raving Jaynes, who combine improvised dance and improvised comedy; and with dancers/movers such as Rebecca Bone, Carmela Hermann Dietrich, Terrence Luke Johnson, and Melanie Rios Glaser & The Wooden Floor (formerly St. Joseph's Ballet). His improvised music is featured in the award-winning film Advantageous, currently on Netflix and iTunes. In New York City, he has performed at National Sawdust, Triskelion Arts, The Tank, Spectrum, and The PIT (People's Improv Theater). As a musician for contact improvisation events, he has been an official musician at the Freiburg Contact Festival, Earthdance, the Boston Fall Jam, and the Toronto Wednesday Jam. As a contact improvisation dancer since 2002, he teaches classes, organizes events, dances, and blogs about contact improvisation at contactimprovblog.com.
