Description
Welcome! The 49th annual gathering of the California Caucus of College and University Ombuds (Cal Caucus) is a unique occasion to meaningfully connect with and learn from fellow ombuds. Located at the historic Asilomar conference grounds near Monterey, this conference offers the opportunity to forge new professional relationships, deepen established ones, and develop your ombuds practice. This year's theme, Lessons from Tidal Pools, centers around a defining characteristic of Asilomar -- its tidal pools. Tidal pools are subject to constant change yet thrive. What can ombuds learn from these diverse and lively communities? Recent challenges have required ombuds to be adaptive and creative in our response. As ombuds, how do we build strong, diverse, and resilient work environments? How do we strengthen our individual ombuds role and create a thriving ombuds community? During this unique conference, presenters will cover topics critical to the success of ombuds in higher education and other fields. Attendees will also have numerous opportunities to learn from each other through interactive case studies and small group discussions. A complete program will be forthcoming on our website, www.calcaucus.com. COVID PROTOCOL AND REQUIREMENTS TO ATTEND Vaccination: Based on guidance from the CDC, all attendees must be fully vaccinated, except in the case of a medical or religious exemption. In order to attend the Caucus, you will be required to show proof of vaccination or exemption upon registration at Asilomar. Testing: There may be additional testing requirements required of attendees (i.e. proof of a negative COVID test) depending on local conditions. Information regarding testing requirements will be determined closer to the event.
