All are welcome at this fun and energetic kick-off for the Highland Games the whole family can enjoy! Food trucks, beer, live music, merchants, Scotch tasting, and the Calling of the Clans ceremony you won’t want to miss! Long ago, “Calling of the Clans” was to call the Clans to battle. Clans announce their presence with a shout of their motto or battle cry. Today the call is not for battle, but for unity as we celebrate our common Scottish heritage and prepare for an exciting day of Highland Games. The Festivities It’s been quite a while since all kilt and kin have congregated for this special occasion, to say the least. But in the meantime, we’ve been hard at work putting together an event that we truly believe will be worth the wait. Between the sweet sound of Celtic music (and perhaps a Piper or two), the delectable delight of southern cuisine, the joy of raising a glass of whiskey with friends and peers, and the aesthetic wonder of the beautiful oak trees on the banks of the majestic Cooper River, you won’t want to miss this year’s event. 5:00 pm-9:00 pm: Food trucks available 5:00 pm-8:45 pm: Beer truck open 5:00 pm-8:45 pm: Scotch tasting tent open Open tasting of 10-12 Scotches 5:00 pm-9:00 pm: Merchandise Vendors Open 5:30 to 6:15 pm: Live Music Sunset is at 6:05 pm 6:20-7:00 pm: Calling of the Clans Ceremony 7:15- 8:45pm: Music resumes until 9:00 pm: Ceilidh ends Tickets PLEASE NOTE: This event requires a separate ticket from that of the Scottish Games on Saturday, November 5th General Admission = $5 in advance, $10 at the gateKids 12 and under = FreeGeneral Admission + Scotch tasting (21 and over only) = $45 in advance, $55 at the gateWe look forward to seeing you at the fields for our Calling of the Clans Ceilidh and at the 51st Charleston Scottish Games and Highland Gathering!
