Pending GBCI and AIA continuing education approval. Join the USGBC Arizona community for a tour of the Rob and Melani Walton Center for Planetary Health (ISTB7)! This LEED Gold (pursuing Platinum) building was constructed with the vision of “a future in which life thrives on a healthy planet”. Attendees will tour the auditorium and learn about the project management, planning, and design process for the project, including the LEED v4 BD+C process, how to take a project from LEED Gold to LEED Platinum, and how to plan for the LEED certification process in large projects. On this tour attendees will have a chance to see the auditorium, courtyard, Institute of Human Origins Lab, and more! The tour will be led by Rachel Green Rasmussen, AIA, NCARB, Principal at Architekton. Read more about the ISTB7 building here. Learning Objectives: 1. Learn about the project management, planning, and design process for the project including the LEED v4 BD+C rating process and how to take a project from LEED Gold to LEED Platinum 2. Learn how the design team turned a complex existing site into a passively cooled space that improves the health and well-being of occupants. 3. Learn how the research labs were designed to promote human health and safety through LEED IAQ criteria. 4. Learn how the general interiors of the space addressed LEED credits for water, energy, materials, and indoor environmental quality to improve the well-being of occupants and the resilience of interior materials. Tour space is limited to 45, but all are welcome to join us afterward for happy hour at Devil's Advocate in Tempe.
