Join The Land for a conversation with neighbors advancing Cleveland’s circular economy as part of our Tour The Land series. Thursday, July 14, 2022, 7-8:30p Ben Franklin Community Garden 1905 Spring Rd., Cleve. OH 44109 (Old Brooklyn neighborhood) FREE ICE CREAM! Circular Cleveland is a new initiative led by the nonprofit Cleveland Neighborhood Progress (CNP) and the city of Cleveland. Its goal is to promote the circular economy as a way of helping the environment and creating jobs and economic opportunity at the same time. The circular economy aims to keep materials in circulation as long as possible and out of the waste stream. Last year, CNP and the city won a $476,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to develop a circular economy roadmap that will help the city achieve its climate action plan and sustainability goals. CNP and the city have so far recruited ambassadors, funded small demonstration projects, and held community workshops. They’re set to release the roadmap in late July. Come learn the latest with Circular Cleveland, how the Bibb administration is tackling climate change, and how neighborhood leaders are equitably improving their communities. Panelists: Deb Smith, Clean Garbage Recycling, Tremont Paula Coggins, Oh Sew Powerful Trishelle Robinson, King’s Closet Sharie Renee, Cleveland Sews / Cosmic Bobbins Katie Dugan, Old Brooklyn Recycles Cathi Lehn, Sustainable Cleveland manager Ron Shelton, High Art Fridays (invited) REMEMBER: FREE ICE CREAM! :) Representatives from Circular Cleveland, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, and the city of Cleveland will also be there to answer questions. DIRECTIONS: Ben Franklin Community Garden is located at 1905 Spring Rd. in Cleveland’s historic Old Brooklyn neighborhood. If you’re driving, walking, biking or taking transit, make sure you go down the driveway BEHIND the school to where the garden is located. There’s parking there and in front of the school.
