Description
“It is not good … to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). This is the first thing God declared to be not good. We were created from relationship, through relationship, in relationship, and for relationship with God and one another. Sadly, whether it’s due to a break-up, divorce, illness, job loss, the death of a loved one, or seemingly for no reason at all … there are times in our broken world we simply feel alone, emotionally and relationally distant from everyone. Today, millions understand the pain of loneliness and its far-reaching effects. Even though we live in the most technologically connected world ever, in so many ways, we are also the most relationally disconnected ever. Issues of loneliness and isolation continue to impact many in our families, churches, workplaces, and communities. The social isolation of the past two years due to the pandemic has contributed to a global rise in nearly every mental health disorder. So what’s the answer to this growing reality? When we feel lonely, God meets with us. One of the Lord’s most comforting and frequent reminders to us is simply, “I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10), the very meaning of His name, Immanuel. Join Hope for the Heart Founder, June Hunt, for a special one-day symposium on Loneliness: From Longing to Belonging.
