The Grosse Ile Historical Society is hosting speaker/author Patti Smith for a talk and beer tasting on Wednesday, July 20th at 6:30 pm at the Westcroft Gardens’ Azalea House (21803 West River Road, Grosse Ile). Ms. Smith will lead a discussion about Michigan brewers at the end of the 19th century, through Prohibition, and post WWII (including our own Edward W. Voigt) and learn about the current state of local craft breweries. Participants will sample six different styles of beers from ales to lagers to stouts. Samples will be paired with Great Lakes Potato Chips, a Michigan based company. Tickets may be purchased for $35 for members and $40 for non-members on Eventbrite or call (734) 675-1250 to reserve your spot.
