Click here to learn more. Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today: Loyola University announced that it has renamed its largest dorm. This fall, Loyola will permanently change Carrollton Hall's name to the Blanche and Norman C. Francis Family Hall. The new name is in honor of its first Black graduate Dr. Norman C. Francis. Francis graduated from Loyola University Law School in 1955 and went on to become the president of Xavier University for over 46 years. (WWLTV.com) A video surfaced over the weekend of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell intervening in an altercation at the Fillmore this weekend. Cantrell released a statement outlining how she was able to de-escalate a situation between two audience member where one was struck. The video is of Cantrell calming one of the women down in the bathroom of the venue. (WDSU New Orleans) A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck early Tuesday morning after attempting to step into the street off the median. The driver was uninjured and called 911 after the accident, which was at the corner of Louisiana Avenue and South Liberty Street.
