HACKENSACK, NJ — Richard Cho, a Leonia High School senior, juggled a busy schedule while in school, remaining active in sports and involved inside and outside of the classroom. But what recently earned him a $1,000 scholarship was his ability to relate to others, see the humor in life and be a good friend, a news release said. At a June 2 school awards ceremony, Cho was named the 17th recipient of the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation's The Class of 1964 Ralph Gregg Memorial Scholarship, which memorializes Class of 1964 student Ralph Gregg, the foundation said in the news release. Cho, who plans to attend the College of New Jersey this fall, ran track and played basketball, and worked with a test-prep program and accounting and tax service firm, all while in high school. He also twice attended the state conference for DECA, formerly the Distributive Education Clubs of America, a career and technical student organization. To qualify, the recipient must also seek further education, play sports, receive B grades and demonstrate financial need.
