Description

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin will be under a heat advisory this afternoon, with temperatures expected to reach the high 90s Tuesday, the National Weather Service said. Temperatures are expected to hit 97 degrees in San Rafael and Novato. Mill Valley is expected to top out at 91 degrees. Relief is a short drive away, with temperatures at Stinson Beach expected to top out at 73 degrees. The Bay Area's inland regions are expected to reach triple-digit temperatures Tuesday. "Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities," the National Weather Service said. The NWS is advising residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and check up on vulnerable neighbors and relatives. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Forecasters expect Tuesday to be the hottest day of this heat wave; conditions are expected to cool slightly later in the week but remain above normal.
