WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Train traffic was halted Sunday night in Western Springs because of a report that a train struck a pedestrian, the village said Monday.
After an investigation by area police and fire agencies, the report appeared to be unfounded, village spokeswoman Selmin Cicek said in an email to Patch.
The incident was believed to have happened on the tracks between Clausen and Gilbert avenues, the village said.
Train traffic was stopped about 9 p.m. and resumed at 11:20 p.m., Cicek said.
