Chatham Township police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and keep key fobs and garage door openers inside their homes, amidst the area's ongoing problem with motor vehicle theft. 57 Chatham High School Students Earn 'New Jersey Seal Of Biliteracy' A total of 57 seniors at Chatham High School recently earned a New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal of Biliteracy honors high school seniors who can demonstrate a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. According to a district news release, students took and passed exams in Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese and German. Chatham Seniors Commit To Military Service Post-Graduation Following their graduation, three Chatham High School graduates will go on to serve their country in three different branches of service. Karen Cashel will join the Air Force ROTC program at Virginia Tech University through the Corps of Cadets. Thomas Sennett has been appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point, while Ezra Richman will join the United States Marine Corps. Residents Can Grab 'Coffee With A Cop' In Chatham Township The Chatham Township Police Department will hold a "Coffee With A Cop" event on June 22 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The event will take place at the Dunkin' Donuts at Hickory Square Mall. According to the police department, the event will enable local police officers to meet residents and have a casual conversation. Future School Safety Discussed At Chatham Board Of Education Meeting The Chatham Board of Education discussed upcoming school safety measures in response to the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, at its final meeting for the school year. According to Chatham Superintendent Michael LaSusa, the district is hiring Special Law Enforcement Officers (SLEO) for the upcoming school year at all Chatham Elementary Schools. Chatham Resident Expands Workout Business With Third Location A long-time Chatham resident is expanding his fitness business once more, opening his third location in Summit this week. Dave Weaving is the franchise owner of StretchLab, a gym and physical fitness center that is one of the country's newest health-related franchises. Assault Weapons, Drugs Seized From Morris County Home: Prosecutor Authorities seized 14 firearms, more than 100,000 rounds of ammunition and 100 high-capacity magazines, LSD, Psilocybin Mushrooms and Ketamine from the home of a 33-year-old Landing man, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said Friday. Erik Vandevelde, of Landing, was arrested on June 8 after authorities received information that led to the investigation of his residence, Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said.
