Funeral Details Set For Fallen Philadelphia Firefighter

PHILADELPHIA — Details for Philadelphia Fire Department Lt. Sean Williamson's funeral have been set as his line of duty death this weekend. Williamson died Saturday after responding to a structure fore at about 2 a.m. on at 300 W. Indiana Ave. Eight occupants of the structure were evacuated, but firefighters remained at the scene when the building collapsed about 3 a.m., trapping Fire Marshal Lt. Sylvester Burton, Lt. Clarence Johnson, firefighter Dennis Bailey, and licenses and inspections Supervisor Thomas Rybakowski. After the initial search and rescue effort got underway, Williamson and firefighter Robert Brennan Jr. were trapped under debris, the fire department reported. They were not removed from the rubble until around 7 a.m. Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene. Brennan, as well as Bailey, are in critical but stable condition at Temple Hospital. Burton, Johnson and Rybakowski were treated and released. Williamson's viewings will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 26 and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, June 27 at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 1121 Jackson St., Philadelphia. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Shortly after the mass, the Philadelphia Fire Department will stage a funeral procession beginning at Engine 59/Ladder 18/Medic 4, 2201 W. Hunting Park Ave. This procession of vehicles and apparatus will travel east on Hunting Park and turn right (south) on Broad until it reaches Stolfo Funeral Home, 2536 S. Williamson served the city for 27 years and was last assigned to Ladder 18 in Tioga/Nicetown. Over his long career, he also served with the specialized Rescue 1 company; taught at the Fire Academy; and was a member of PA-Task Force 1, the federal urban search-and-rescue team sponsored by the PFD.
