Lemont Keepataw Day Parade Seeking Grand Marshall Nominations

The Lemont Keepataw Day Foundation, a local, non-profit 501 (c)(3) arts, culture, and humanities organization, is excited to announce that it is now accepting nominations for Grand Marshall of this year's Keepataw Day Parade, scheduled to take place Sunday, September 4th, 2022, at 1 pm, during Labor Day weekend. Nominees must live or have lived in Lemont and have significantly impacted the Lemont community over the years. They must also be available on the day of the parade to ride in a special vehicle. To nominate someone you know, please include their full name and phone number, your full name and phone number, and in 500 words or less, describe the nominee and how they have impacted the Lemont community. Send your document by email to [email protected]. Nominations are due no later than August 1, 2022. The Lemont Keepataw Day Parade committee comprises community members who will judge the nominations for Grand Marshall and select the winning nomination. Last year's Keepataw Day Parade Grand Marshall was Beverly Marzec. Read more about her accomplishments at this link. Starting in 1951, the Lemont Keepataw Day Parade has a rich history of community involvement. School teams, clubs, societies, local businesses, community leaders, first responders, and other groups proudly parade through the downtown district as they showcase their members and achievements. The theme of this year's parade is "Keepataw Fun Fest" and will include a concert and fun fest in Lemont's Metra parking lot. The parade will begin at Main Street and Lemont Street, proceed down Main Street, and make a right at Turnabout up to Illinois Street. The parade will continue down Illinois Street and finish at the corner of Illinois and Lemont Streets.
