WOODBURY, MN — At least one road in Woodbury buckled under the extreme conditions brought on by triple-digits temperatures Monday. Washington County tweeted a photo around 5:45 p.m. Monday of a buckled segment of pavement on Valley Creek Road near Radio Drive. A crew of workers jackhammered the buckled pavement and filled the hole with a cold-mix asphalt, fixing the buckled road in just a few hours, officials said. Most major roadways are cut into small segments to reduce the potential for buckling during extreme heat and cold, which can be dangerous for drivers and damaging to vehicles that drive over the buckled roadway, MnDOT officials said. The department shared a video from 2016 showing a buckled segment of Highway 36 in Little Canada that sent many cars airborne.
