We have a gorgeous neutered 3 yr old 120+ lb Great Pyrenees dog who is available for a new home. He’s been in trial as a working livestock guardian dog but we feel he needs a larger property 5+ acres. He’s not a fan of strangers on his property or roaming outside his fenceline, normal for his breed. The smaller property he has now just doesn't seem big enough for him. We think he'd love to have a sheep or goat flock of his own to protect. He’s looking for a *breed experienced*, dog savvy family who is willing to set him up for success as a flock protector or a fabulous house pet. He really does love to be outside though, and ideally we'd like to find him a new home where he can be the guardian dog he was meant to be. An application and home visit will be required, and your dog experience must be demonstrated. Fostering will be required before you can be considered/approved to adopt (and an adoption fee will be required if approved). If you do not live a leadership lifestyle with your dogs, please don’t inquire. This dog will be too much for you. Other things he needs: - a single family home with securely fenced private backyard to enjoy on 5+ acres (he is on 2 acres now and it's not enough space, the neighbors are too close) - a quiet home environment with low foot traffic (since he doesn’t like strangers) - parents who understand that diamonds in the rough require polishing which takes time, energy and commitment (so if you’re looking for a ready-made dog, don’t inquire) - parents who will let him dig holes (on occasion, at least), roll around in the dirt (once in a while), and bark (regularly); Pyrs bark and if you’re experienced with the breed, you’ll understand this (so if you live too close to your neighbors, please don’t inquire) - people who know that Pyrs are independent and highly intelligent, not robots; he isn’t always going to do what you tell him to do because he’s capable of thinking for himself - people who want to wake up to a smiling white fluffy face every day, and who give belly rubs and ear scritches as often as possible Email for more info if this sounds like a pup you’d like to have watching over your flock.
