Used extensively during the Cold War for classified U.S. military projects, it has a long history both as an intelligence gathering tool and as the subject of research and applications in the civilian world. IRVA was founded in 1999 by scientists and practitioners to provide a mechanism for evaluating “remote viewing”, encourage scientifically sound research, propose ethical standards, and provide educational information to the remote viewing community and general public.
