SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES: The Extrusion is the 3rd stage of the wire production process. It is the responsibility of the Extrusion operator to insulate bunched copper within specifications to ensure good quality wire is delivered to our customers and all documentation is appropriately completed. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS: 1. Operators will set-up equipment (bunched wire and PVC) according to specifications. 2. Must perform the operation of butt welder. 3. Must be able to identify, handle and clean tooling and components (cross head, tip, die, cartridge, program insert, band marker, print wheel) and appropriate storage 4. Operator will establish set-up conditions (recipes) size/types of wire as per MC and OS 5. Read and interpret the production schedule and shop orders. 6. Operator set-up operation and cleaning of tension brake, pre-heater and air wipes. 7. Must set-up, operate and clean the horizontal and vertical extruders; understand CCS program 8. Set-up, operate and clean capstan, band marker and/or letter marker; 9. Operate measurement equipment such as micrometer, optical comparator, tensile & continuity tester. 10. Set-up, operate and clean spark tester, lump detector, OD detector; barrel packer and scales 11. Set-up and operation of weld detection system. 12. Able to use Staple system. 13. Completion of applicable documents (housekeeping, equipment checklists, PIC, FPIR, product labels, control charts) 14. Performs product quality inspections with regard to high strands, centering, burnt compound, color, marking, etc 15. Performs other work-related duties as assigned by his / her immediate supervisor. 16. Maintain a clean and safe work area 17. Must be familiar with the basic machine function in order to perform machine troubleshooting, make adjustments and perform tasks stated above 18. Abide to Company’s Safety and Health standards including the usage of mandated safety tools and equipment PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION: 1. Moderate to Heavy physical effort required 2. Required to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, reach, bend, squat constantly, climb ladders and move about the facility throughout the day. 3. Perform some pushing/pulling of reels with hands and body 4. Required to use the reel lifter for loading and unloading reels 5. Required to maintain a clean work area, machinery (inside and outside) EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1. High School diploma or GED 2. General Safety, Extrusion Process Training (in house training sessions) 3. From 0 – 1 year of related experience JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Must have a good command of the English language 2. Be able to use reel lifter and crane 3. Be able to use basic to moderate hand held measuring tools, use simple math 4. Be able to use quality control devices Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
