It’s no secret that employers are struggling to find workers across the United States. In fact, they are actually overlooking a unique talent pool of individuals who can fill these roles: justice-impacted men and women who are re-entering society and the workforce.
There is an incredible amount of untapped talent and potential among those impacted by
incarceration. Join us on August 11th for our “Strive for Better” event as the Colorado Fair Chance Hiring Initiative (CFCHI), Breakthrough, and the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) will come together to host the second Strive for Better event at the Buena Vista Correctional Facility.
We will take a tour of Buena Vista Correctional Facility’s Transitional Work Center (TWC) where currently incarcerated men are afforded the opportunity to leave the facility during the day to work with Transitional Work Opportunity (Take TWO) employers. Following the tour, attendees will reconvene at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort for a reception with complimentary heavy hor d'oeuvres, drinks, and a discussion on fair chance hiring and how you or your business can get involved in this growing movement that will positively impact your business.
By working together, we can ensure that people inside prison are provided proper re-entry and job readiness training resources that create an opportunity to earn a living wage not only while they are incarcerated, but provide an opportunity for economic mobility and a smooth return to their community when they are released. This approach will lead to reduced recidivism, increased financial security, and people in the system contributing to Colorado’s economy.
