Description

There continued news headlines read of abuse in the church, negligence of abuse reporting, and an increase of law suites for negligence. We want to equip churches with the skills and knowledge to help victims of abuse and teach how to document that abuse was reported. Churches have done a great job of reaching the world by spreading the Gospel. We want to help your ministry team increase your tool box with skills to help those in your congregation with real world problems. Trainings will be taught by a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Topics will include: abuse reporting, what abuse looks like, domestic violence, trauma informed care, suicide ideation, attachment in families that cross over into the church setting, and documentation for reporting incidents. We want to help protect both victims and churches from further abuse or civil lawsuits by teaching legal laws of mandated reporting, what reporting to local authorities looks like, documentation that will hold up in court. Participants will leave the training with a better understanding of: * The reporting process, what is required by local law and Biblical scripture regarding abuse. * How to respond when a person struggles with suicide ideation. * How to recognize domestic violence, creating a safety plan, and helping advocate for victims. * How to appropriate document that you reported abuse, but also how to ask questions to better understand how to support your church members during abuse or suicidal ideation. * What attachment styles look like and how they replay out with church staff and church members. * What abuse looks like in both the victims and the perpetrator. * How to create visual logs when both a perpetrator and victim attend the same church. * How to create a safety plan for victims of abuse, registered sex offenders, during and investigation, and if someone is suicidal. * Practicum for practicing filling out documentation and appropriate reporting to local authorities and religious headquarters. * Q & A afterwards with clinical trainers.
