For this workshop we’ll be learning both the Katazome (rice paste & stencil) and Shibori (binding & folding) techniques for creating patterns on our pieces. We’ll then dip them in our natural indigo dye vat and learn about the indigo process as well. You’ll dye your own piece/s — based on which item you select below. This workshop is $75/per person —you’ll dye your own piece/s based on which item you select in your ticket. Ticket options: Tea Towel/Napkins (you'll make and leave with 1 tea towel and 4 napkins), Tea Towels (you'll make and leave with 4), Tea Towel/Tote Bag (you'll make and leave with one canvas tote and one tea towel) or Bandana/ Tea Towels (you'll make and leave with one cotton bandana and 2 tea towels).
All levels of experience are welcome—hand dyeing is a fun and curious process, so all you need is a willingness to experiment. All supplies for the workshop will be provided. Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dye on. Min age: 12
This workshop is approx 3- 3.5 hours — we will learn the methods, dip the pieces, wash them in house (during that you will have about a 30 min break) and then you’ll leave with your finished pieces ready to use (after they dry).
