Secret Meals For Hungry Children has fed students facing food insecurity since 2008 with one goal in mind: decreasing the number of children in Alabama facing hunger over the weekend. That commitment has never been stronger. The Secret Meals program works with school officials, such as teachers, counselors and lunch staff to identify children that are showing signs of going hungry over the weekend. Once the children have been identified, food packs are discreetly placed into their backpacks every Friday. Each food pack consists of nutritious and vitamin-fortified meals. It costs $140 to feed a student every weekend for an entire school year. For more information, visit secretmeals.org.
