Press release from the Town of Lexington: June 17, 2022 Chief Terrence Green is announcing to the Town of Lexington community that our officers will begin offering monthly STOP THE BLEED and C.R.A.S.E. (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) training with dates planned for each class once a month for the remainder of the year. Our department is frequently asked by schools, churches, businesses, and community groups for instruction on what to do if they encounter someone who is bleeding from an injury and how they should react if they are in an active shooter event. STOP THE BLEED is a two-hour course that teaches participants three quick actions which can be used to save a life with guidance on the use of tourniquets and wound packing. C.R.A.S.E. is a two-hour course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT, which provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. The STOP THE BLEED and C.R.A.S.E. classes will be taught at the Lexington Police Department in our training room on the following dates from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. STOP THE BLEED C.R.A.S.E.June 21 June 23July 12 July 14August 23 August 25September 20 September 22October 25 October 27November 15 November 17December 20 December 22 The STOP THE BLEED and C.R.A.S.E. classes are free to attend and will be limited to 16 participants in each session.
