JOLIET, IL — While most of Joliet was sound asleep, on duty officers were called to the 600 block of Parkwood Drive at 3 a.m. Monday. Officers arrested 23-year-old Riley Topor on charges of aggravated domestic battery.
Joliet police say Topor attacked one of his relatives while he and the man were drinking alcohol in the backyard on Parkwood Drive, on Joliet's far east side.
"Topor suddenly grew angry and began biting and choking his (relative)," police spokesman Dwayne English stated. "Officers located Topor in the backyard on the ground with both legs wrapped around (the man's) his neck."
English said that the officers intervened and placed Topor into custody. A Joliet Fire Department ambulance was also called to the scene for the victim and Topor. Although the victim refused medical assistance, Topor was transported to Silver Cross for his injuries.
Topor was released from the hospital a short time later and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, according to Joliet police reports.
