Here are the top five stories in Raleigh today: Wake County is offering various summer meal programs that will provide free food for children during the summer. The meal sites will serve children and teenagers under the age of 18, regardless of Wake County school enrollment status. The sites began operation Monday, and meals must be eaten on site. To find a location parents can search online or text "FOOD" or "COMIDA" to 304-304. (WRAL)The Wake County Animal Center is offering a "Name Your Price" cat adoption process that will run through the rest of the month. During the summer, Wake County Animal Center gets an influx of adoptable pets. Wake County Commissioner Vickie Adamson is asking the community to step up to provide forever homes. City officials are also encouraging pet owners to have their cats spayed or neutered to help reduce the number of cats at the shelter. (CBS17)The Natural Capital Exchange (NCX) is working to connect companies that are aiming to reduce their carbon footprint, and now it is partnering with NC State. NCX will be working with NC State's College of Natural Resources because of its good forestry program and its employees who are well respected in the forestry community. The partnership began in May 2021, and it has a contract lasting from July 2021 and June 2022. (The Technician)On Monday, Governor Roy Cooper confirmed via Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Cooper said in a video that his symptoms are mild thanks to vaccinations and boosters, and he is taking Paxlovid while working from home. (WAVY) This comes as Wake County is in the process of rolling out vaccines for children under 5 years old, and the first shipments reach North Carolina.
