SMITHTOWN, NY — Joseph Arico, the Town of Smithtown director of parks, is set to receive the 2022 Partner in History Award during the annual Heritage Ball gala this fall, the town announced. Arico was selected by the Smithtown Historical Society. The Smithtown Historical Society hosted a breakfast on June 3 where the annual Heritage Ball honorees were announced. Every year, the Smithtown Historical Society chooses members throughout the township who demonstrate a love of conservation, community, a devotion to civics, and the mission of preserving and interpreting Smithtown history and culture. "Joe Arico and his team at the Parks Department work tirelessly every day to maintain the landscape, parks and properties of the town," Supervisor Ed Wehrheim stated. "His devotion to this community and helping organizations such as the Historical Society is endless. Joe literally never turns away when help is needed, no matter the time of day or night.
