Description
Looking for a bass player to round out our new group. We have about eight songs demoed and are finding our sound. Loud, feedbacky, noisy, post-punk type stuff that veers into 80s/90s alt stuff. Looking for a Tracy Pew, David Simms kind of player. Not scared of having some grime on the bass, but can swing too. Melodic, but can bring the weight when needed.
Interesting and feel, sure beats chops, but those can be nice too. Shouting along or vocals is a plus but not necessary. Also having the ability to at least send over phone recordings (or better) of basslines would be great.
We are in our 30s-40s, have jobs and stuff, hope to practice every other week, but do stuff remotely in between practices. We've all been in bands and have played around Chicago. I am immunocompromised so if you are interested, please be aware that masking and/or testing is important for practice. BUT we have a space, it is my house, so it's free. There is a bass rig here too, so if you don't want to drag stuff over you will have something to play through. Open to any race, gender, not open to any racists, bigots, or shitheads.
Ideally if you are interested we can do some remote stuff first, hear some songs, come up with some stuff we are all happy with, so when we get together we aren't just figuring stuff out.
Stuff we like: The Birthday Party, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Breeders, Wire, Gang of Four, Husker Du, Mission of Burma, Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Sunny Day Real Estate, Hot Snakes, Joy Division, The Cure, etc. Sometimes we sneak in a Melvins riff here or there. We do like modern stuff too, right? (checks notes) We do.
