It has been reported that Phoenix on the Fault Line rose from the ashes of several credible local Indianapolis bands. According to some, their unique medley of “sci-fi beard rock with horns”, started in 2007 but there are rumors and urban myths that they may be from the future, closer to the year 3317 A.D. While the band’s origin is shrouded in mystery and myth, they will tell you it is the music and the brotherhood that is important. ​ Phoenix on the Fault Line AKA, POTFL has played shows all over the Midwest. Some of their songs have gained attention from radio play on stations in New York, Michigan, Indianapolis, Illinois, and as far out as the United Kingdom. Over the years Phoenix on the Fault Line released three full-length LP albums, one EP album, several internet singles, and live tracks as well as a full-length sci-fi novel about the band's adventures. After almost a decade of making music together and playing killer lineups that included Middle-Class Rutt, Valiant Thorr, CLUTCH, Taproot, Lionize, Deep Swell, Stained, Eve 6, Neon Trees, The Dirty Heads, Sleeper Agent, Walk the Moon, Andrew W.K., and the legendary Black Sabbath… ​In August of 2014, After a show at Radio Radio in Indianapolis IN, the band went missing. ​ In Early 2022AD … Strange rumblings and electrical disturbances were reported in the southern regions of the Indianapolis area. Some believe that the band had returned from the future to rock once more. The band announced their return show at Radio Radio in Indianapolis Indiana on July 9th, 2022. As their namesake suggests. They rise from the ashes once more.
