We invite you to tour a grand selection of curated quilts of various ages, designs, and historical significance. Every quilt tells a story...come and hear the tales they have to tell.Shown is a square from our Album quilt, also known as an Autograph quilt. Album quilts flourished in the mid-1800s, especially along the Eastern seaboard. Each block of an Album quilt has a different appliqued motif, often with the quilter's name embroidered on the block. The square above is part of an Album quilt in the permanent collection of the NCHS, c. 1860s, and was made by many of the original New Castle families that settled in the area.
