Join Emerald Keepers for a screening of the award-winning film, A Plastic Ocean, which follows the journey of one team and their fascination with plastics, the ocean, and the toxins that we can't escape—even at the furthest reaches of the world. In 2009, a team of researchers traveled deep into the Pacific Ocean to study a solid mass of plastic. Instead, they stumbled upon a soup of free-floating microplastics, a discovery that shocked the team and defied all expectations. The discovery prompted a four-year global odyssey and "deep dive" into the issue of plastics in our oceans, and a search for the solutions that can save us. A Plastic Ocean is the telling of this team's winding and courageous journey. On July 21st, Emerald Keepers will be hosting a family-friendly screening of A Plastic Ocean at Village Theater. After the screening we will be joined by a panel of experts in plastic science and policy, who will answer the audience's most pressing questions. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Emerald Keepers, Coronado's premiere ocean conservation non-profit.
