LAS VEGAS JAZZ SOCIETY and NEVADA SCHOOL OF THE ARTS PROFESSIONAL AND ADVANCED MUSICIANS Looking for a place to play in an ensemble and help developing musicians? DEVELOPING AND RETURNING MUSICIANS OF ALL AGES Looking for a chance to hone your skills and learn from the community’s top musicians in a positive and non-judgmental setting? We invite: Professional/advanced players, educators, hobbyists, returning musicians, and students of any age who are relatively proficient on their instruments and have some experience in ensemble playing Join us if you: • come with a positive and non-judgmental attitude • are open to interacting with players of different skill levels – either as a teacher or learner • are willing to share your knowledge and experience with others • are willing to take a chance and try things outside of your comfort zone Each week, the core group of professional and advanced musicians will rehearse using charts from noted bandleaders and arrangers. At times during the rehearsal, developing/returning musicians will be invited to sit with the core group to play the parts or to observe and interact with the core group. During this time, the advanced musicians will guide or otherwise provide assistance to the developing musicians. There will also be opportunities before and after the formal rehearsal time for individual interaction, jamming or just hanging out.
