Join us for an afternoon of poetry readings from local poets Chris Abbate, Maureen Sherbondy, and Crystal Simone Smith.
Chris Abbate’s poems have appeared in numerous journals including Connecticut River Review, Cider Press Review, and Prime Number Magazine. He is a two-time nominee for a Pushcart Prize, has been nominated for a Best of the Net award, and has received awards in the Nazim Hikmet and North Carolina Poetry Society poetry contests. His most recent collection of poetry, Words for Flying, was published by FutureCycle Press. His previous collection, Talk About God, was published by Main Street Rag.
Maureen Sherbondy has been published in Calyx, European Judaism, The Oakland Review, Prelude, and other journals. Her poetry books include Lines in Opposition, Dancing with Dali, Eulogy for an Imperfect Man, Beyond Fairy Tales, The Art of Departure, and six chapbooks. She has also published a short story collection, The Slow Vanishing.
Crystal Simone Smith is the author of two poetry chapbooks, Routes Home, Finishing Line Press (2013) and Running Music, Longleaf Press (2014). She is also the author of Wildflowers: Haiku, Senryu, and Haibun (2016). Her work has appeared in numerous journals including: Callaloo, Nimrod, Barrow Street, Obsidian II: Literature in the African Diaspora, African American Review, and Mobius: The Journal of Social Change.
