Description

Book Suey is pleased to host the release of the newest issue of Stupor, titled MY SECRET SICKNESS. The 45th in the Stupor’s 27 year run, this one is a collaboration between writer Steve Hughes and the Hinterlands who will be reading and performing at the event. Intently literary, MY SECRET SICKNESS is based on the writings of Chilean author Roberto Bolaño, particularly his skinny detective novel ANTWERP. After months of reading and discussing his books, Hughes and the Hinterlands distilled their energies, and over the course of three nights, went bar to bar gathering stories on crimes. Their stops included the Painted Lady, Bumbos, and the Outer Limits. Now—pause for second—watch the important Stupor video on the work of the Hinterlands below. The event is free. MY SECRET SICKNESS will be available for purchase. Still punk rock (even in color), still $2. Stupor is Detroit’s longest running zine. Learn more at Stuporzine.com The Hinterlands are Liza Bielby, Richard Newman, and collaborator Renee Willoughby. Visit them at thehinterlands.org and reneekindling.com
