Their “talking adventures” come in as many styles as fit your curiosity. With their True Crime Tour, Throughline Tours is shining a light on some darker corners of St. Louis history. What is the Soulard Neighborhood? The Soulard neighborhood has a style and character all to itself in St. Louis. It has managed to survive and thrive as one the oldest communities in the city. Many of its buildings boast amazingly well preserved pre-civil war architecture. Today it's home to restaurants and bars many of which host live music, especially the blues and jazz bands for which St. Louis is known, and of course the headquarters of the internationally renowned Anheuser-Busch Brewery. What to expect when you go: Voting riots, duels, sociopathic midwives and prohibition gangsters are what’s on your plate with this tour! You’ll stroll through these centuries old streets where more than a few have died and some of our more salacious headlines were born. Over the course of our hour walk we heard about Bloody Island, a place that loomed large in St. Louis history for decades, the assassination of Chief Pontiac when St. Louis was just a far-flung outpost of the French empire and many more historical characters that met a grizzly end and our guide showed many historical photographs to help make them all come to life. Where does this tour meet? This journey begins at Molly’s 816 Gyer Ave. St. Louis MO 63104. Molly’s is the biggest name and the most lively place in the neighborhood. They sport an American fare menu plus 7 full bars and a massive carnival light patio. Arrive early for food and drinks or arrive right on time and bring it with you, “Laissez les bon temps rouler!”. Soulard hosts the 2nd biggest Mardi Gras celebration in the US and for that reason they allow us to play by Mardi Gras rules every day. Guests 21 and over are fee to brazenly carry any alcoholic beverages through the streets -just ask your bartender for your drink "to go" and bring it with us! The tour ends a few blocks away at Soulard Market. Throughline Tours St. Louis, MO 314-622-9013 https://www.throughlinetours.com/
