Description
Upright bassist looking for a new gig. I'm open to a wide range of possibilities from standards to bluegrass, but my ideal situation would be finding people to collaborate with on original material as well as some choice covers.
While most likely falling into the Americana label, I'm not totally comfortable pigeon-holing what I'm looking to do so some examples of covers I have enjoyed in past projects lie heavily on Tom Waits, Dylan, Cash and material from Garcia/Kahn, Townes, Leonard Cohen, Los Lobos, Nick Cave, Jimmy Rodgers, Wilco, Gil Scott-Heron, Curtis, Sly, Joe Henry, Neil Young, Jorma, Jobim, Tosh, Mongo Santamaria, Mingus, Meters, Scofield Wood Bros, Stones.......
Ideally this would include players comfortable in stretching out a bit on the structure of the tunes without losing the feel and (a) drummer(s) who is(are) as comfortable/competent with train rhythms and bossa as with rock or swing, with a great appreciation of dynamics
I do play some electric if necessary
I'm in my late 40's and not looking to make a living off this but I do take what I do very seriously. That said, it's as important to me to have fun and enjoy the process as it is to sound great. I do have a good amount of experience on all size stages as well as in studios.
If interested let's discuss. Thanks
