I have 3 Rouen Ducks. I believe they are all female. They are about 3 months old.
I got them earlier this Spring but, unfortunately, I am unable to care for them any longer.
Ideal situation would be a farm or a back yard with a good sized pond.
They need water and room to roam around. At minimum, they would need a kiddie pool that can hold 8 inches to a foot of water. Also, a completely fenced yard, with at least a 3-foot fence, so they will not escape. They can not fly, but they can jump. One of them has learned how to jump and has escaped the little pen I made for them.
Being domestic ducks, it is considered cruelty to animals to own less than 2 of them. It is also consider cruelty to set them free as they will not survive and will be killed by predators.
I have a bag of duck food for them. They also eat dandelion leaves & flowers, clover, grass, dry oatmeal and other things.
They forage around in the grass and eat small insects and grubs which is good for the lawn. They also fertilize the lawn with their droppings.
It's a lot of fun to feed them and watch them play around in the water.
