brick mason assistant/Hod tender. $20-25/hr DOE

Jobs

Salt Lake City UT

Description

The job is full time, working with a brick mason. He's 63 and has been doing it since like 1975 or something. He's really chill and outgoing, easy to work with. It's a fairly easy job, he doesn't need much more than making mortor and cutting bricks. Occasionally setting up scaffolding, just basic stuff. Overall it's a pretty easy job, just continuous. Constant motion but for residential work with an old man, so its not overwhelming by any means. Sometimes helping unload stuff from the work truck. If this ad is up we are still looking. It's all residential stuff so it's not like we are building Walmarts, banks, or 711s. It's more casual. More precise. Not so intense, not moving at breakneck speeds. Experience gets you $25/hr. Anyone with an ability to handle moderate construction activities starts at $20. I'm at $22 after 6 months. -Pay is $20-25 an hour -Pay is a personal check every 2 weeks, so you either need a bank account or have 2 forms of ID to cash it at an America first credit union -YOU MUST HAVE A CAR, and not just your girlfriends car. -You're helping an old man. You will have to do all the lifting and heavy stuff. It's not much. Heaviest thing will always be just a bag of mortar. Martin is really chill, easy to get along with. - a decent part of the job is cutting brick to size with a moderately sized brick saw, or just a standard chop saw. So I suppose knowing how to count to 12 is necessary to measure brick and cut it..... lol we really aren't asking much. Just show up -im really hoping this isn't asking too much but for the love of all things not stupid, please do not be stoned every moment of your life. Obviously meth is a hell of a drug, and God help you if you're on heroin, but we can't have that kind of stuff. We need someone who's here fully, mentally. The bricklayers are experienced, but being able to think fast and occasionally remember things they might forget is great. After work is fine, we don't care.... seriously. We have experience with stoned peopled and it's never been great. -if you've ever just stopped showing up to a job please don't respond. I know it's Craigslist but please don't do that to us..... It really is easy stuff. Just have to know what you're doing with some reasonable consistency. Martin is 63, a mule of a man tho dude, gives me hope for when I'm that age, super chill and easy to work with. Funny guy, has lots of stories. Starts tomorow. Monday.
