I think since you are some kind of legal scholar you'd know that millions of people have been charged with a crime that don't testify in their defense because its up to the prosecution to prove they're guilty not the charged prove their innocence. The Jan 6th Committee has no power to charge anyone with a crime and in fact it's been rumored they won't even recommend Trump be prosecuted with a crime so what's the point of their investigation? Good time to laugh, reruns of Andy of Mayberry get higher viewer ratings and don't have to be rescheduled. Can I laugh? If law and order is what you want then the Jan 6th stuff should be hailed. I mean if law and order is what you want then holding people accountable for crimes committed should be the goal. And if people are innocent, then they have nothing to fear. Innocent people don't take the 5th. Innocent people have no problem testifying about their observations and behavior. Innocent people don't try to change what EVERYONE saw. For a president who espoused law and order, crime went up 7% under his administration (and this includes a lockdown of ~12 months) and he personally committed countless crimes while trying to remain in power. Please, don't talk about truth and law and order. You have no basis with which to work from and sound like a hypocrite.
