In celebration of Pride Month and Juneteenth, Own Your Aura is a 5-day art show and event series exploring identity and equality through art and activism featuring LGBTQ+ and POC artists from the Allston-Brighton community and DIAs. Featured Artists: AMANDA WILLEY Amanda is an Allston-based artist, currently focusing on the continuation of a series based on physically representing the concept of silence. She works on her pieces over long stretches of time and each one is really personal. The feeling of quiet to her is full-nothingness, the aftermath of intense emotional charge and lack of control; the sky is menacing and godly. She is primarily an oil painter, but also work in charcoal and ink. Her current series is somewhat representational, but their coloration and formations are more abstract. http://www.instagram.com/amanda.willey.art TRIPPYLANDIA Trippylandia (she/her) is a Creative Director & Artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Trippy started experimenting with acrylic painting in 2013 as a form of mental healing and therapy. Through the years, she has practiced painting on her own and expanded her work by collaborating with local artists, doing mural work, and taking painting commissions. In 2016 she launched her brand "Trippylandia." a world full of vivid characters mixed with the universe. A combination of surrealism, portrait, and psychedelic art, inspired by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Tim Burton, and Ekundayo. Trippylandia has also expanded her work by working and learning graphic designing, wardrobe styling, and photography. Vintage and second hand garments or materials are reworked to reclaim each pieces' power. https://www.instagram.com/shophouseofsalvage/ TIDDBITS Tidbitts offers upcycled accessories, currently featuring jewelry crafted from champagne "crowns", necklaces earrings, cufflinks, etc, and is founded by Andrew Tidd, a maker/crafter/photographer/observer currently working in the Allston Brighton area. https://www.instagram.com/tiddbitsaccessories We will be collecting donations that will directly support the event participants and overhead costs as well as a charitable donation. Each donation of $15 will enter you in a raffle with a chance to win items like a gift card to Lonestar or Notch Brewery, or a tattoo from Regeneration! We will also be collecting clean clothing donations during all Own Your Aura Events for a clothing swap and upcycling class, then donating the remaining to charity.
