Current and potential volunteers are invited to a potluck picnic! Join us for the City of Berkeley's Adopt-a-Spot Program Volunteer Picnic, a chance for the City to show its appreciation to its dedicated volunteers and for volunteer to meet one another, chat, share ideas and build community. The Public Works Department will provide refreshments such as sparkling water and juice and attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. If you have any food allergies that we should be aware of, please let us know by emailing [email protected]. This free event will celebrate Adopt-a-Spot volunteers and their commitment to keeping Berkeley safe and beautiful. Adopt-a-Spot Volunteer Picnic July 30th, 2022 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm Strawberry Creek Park picnic area 1260 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA 94702 Please invite your friends and neighbors! Amenities- Restrooms are on-site and the park is wheel-chair accessible. Kids- There will be activities available for young children as well as a play structure nearby. Raffle - Every attendee will be entitled to a raffle ticket and a chance to win one of our pollinator/gardening themed prizes! prizes include: - Butterfly mug - Swallowtail butterfly embroidered cap - Butterfly cookie cutters - California butterfly and bee guides - Bringing Nature Home by Douglas W. Tallamy - The Drought-Defying California Garden by Greg Rubin & Lucy Warren Party Favors - Attendees will receive a CA-native wildflower seed packet (includes Baby Blue Eyes, California Yarrow, Blue Flax and Globe Gilia) and a cool color-changing pencil courtesy of the Clean Water Program! Program Announcements - Public Works’ CivicSpark Fellow and Adopt-a-Spot Program Coordinator, Lena Roule-Stewart will make an announcement about the exciting upcoming Traffic Circle CA-Native Pollinator Garden Program, made possible through the UC Berkeley Chancellor’s Community Partnership Fund grant! Transportation- Keeping with the spirit of this event, sustainable practices are strongly encouraged. Public transit is available via AC Transit: 51B and 88. The 51B will take you to University Ave. and Bonar St., with a 4-minute walk to the venue. The 88 will take you to Sacramento St. and University Ave., with a 7-minute walk to the venue. In addition, bike parking will be located at the park. This event is organized by the City of Berkeley's Public Works Department.
